TIFF & BEANIE
LCD: How do you describe your style?
T: What informs an outfit on a Monday won’t always apply to that of a Sunday but one thing remains constant and that is wearing pieces of quality that bring comfort, sophistication, and ease.
LCD: What is your biggest sartorial inspiration?
T: Unconsciously I have adopted my mother-in -law’s uniform of oversized men’s button downs for any occasion from pulling weeds to a social outing. For the latter I might choose to pair with a tailored trouser echoing my late Nona’s style or I might reach for a vintage comme des garçons skirt to throw an odd quality in the mix.
LCD: Was there a preconceived notion about motherhood that you abandoned once you became a mother?
T: Flexibility is key in wardrobe as well as motherhood. At four years old my daughter is blossoming into her independence. My ability to “go with the flow” and not control everything has been the greatest lesson. To channel that pillar of patience I lean on my own mom who always has a way of calming things down just by being her warm loving self. Happy Mother’s Day to all the mommas out there.
STARLA
LCD: How do you describe your style?
S: My style has always been eclectic...I have always enjoyed fashion, even as a child playing with my Barbie dolls and dressing them up. I don't dress for anyone but myself...trends come and go. I select pieces that are timeless...so I can always reach into my closets and know I'm gonna look good regardless of the newest trends...
LCD: Was there a preconceived notion about motherhood that you abandoned once you became a mother?
S: When people usually have children they change their lives to adjust to the newness of parenthood. I'm the total opposite. When my daughter was born, I didn't change my lifestyle by having her...I believed she added to our lives...we continued to do as before but included my daughter in everything! And I believe adding adventures into your lifestyle and including your child in the adventures is educational for us all, and personal growth happens to us all. If I had to do it all over again, nothing would change for me! Motherhood completed me <3
